Antique bowl-back mandolin. Made by A.C. Fairbanks Co. of Boston, Mass c. 1890s. Model is Regent. A pretty fancy one, with binding, beautiful purfling, inlays and other great period detail. Fairbanks was better known for their banjo range, but this mandolin was built to the same high quality standard.
This is a project for restoration. Neck and back are in very good condition. Top has several cracks and some old amateur repairs. Tuners, bridge, nut and tailpiece are all missing but shouldn't be too hard to replace, as these are all fairly standard parts. It will need some help to sing again, but it can certainly be brought back and is a very worthwhile project. Or can be a very cool decorative / conversation piece.
