lease compare it the Weymann model #20 we have for sale). When compared to mandolins in our small museum, it's visually identical to a Weymann model 15 but the sound is different.The back seems like it is from a Oscar Schmidt Sovereign.
It was not uncommon back then for makers to buy parts from other makers as needed.  But possibly it might've been a shop workers own personal mandolin which may explain why the
label looks like it was cut out a child. (The Martin Co. did allow employees to work on their own instruments during lunch, but were not to permitted the use of the house label).
This instrument has been professionally restored. It has a sustain that most mandolin players only dream about & this statement is made with no exaggeration as it is based on the owner's extensive collection of both "A" & bowl back mandolins by the very best makers. He himself was quite surprised by the volume, sustain & quality of tone.
The intonation is clear & clean right up to the highest point on the very straight fingerboard. And it has a new bridge & new Mappes .008-.028 strings, our choice for old instruments in "players condition", which by the way means this instrument has repaired cracks, scratches etc., but no worries we guarantee them all!
