Late 1800's Early 1900's Bowl Back Mandolin!
I am unable to find any identifiable markings both on the outside or inside other than a patent date of 1880 on the tail piece. It does appear to be hand crafted by an early luthier. I suspect that it is of Italian origin based on the estate that it came out of. Please let me know if you are able to identify the maker.
The mandolin is approximately 22" long x 7¼" wide x 5" deep. It does have a carrying case. However the case needs repair and restoration. Basically all of the cases stitching has been destroyed with age and as a result it is falling apart. It should be able to be restitched.
The mandolin is in very good condition. It currently has only 4 strings and is missing one of its turners.
