NAME OF THIS MANDOLIN - CARMEN
ANTIQUE ROMAN STYLE MANDOLIN
DIMENSIONS 24 x 7 x 7 INCHES - Close approximation.
This is an antique Roman style Mandolin and her name is Carmen.
This Mandolin has not been cleaned. The wood could be improved and the residue removal that could be cleaned, I'm leaving to the individual who purchases this Mandolin. I know harsh chemicals can be annoying to antique wood and metal, so the new owner can determine their own proper cleaning methods. The back end of the mandolin needs to be cleaned of residue around the front tail piece.
The strings are at least 50 years old.
All around the tail piece, the ornamental design has been removed, as shown in the photos. In that area, its missing the stripes. There is a slight elevation on the left front side of the  mandolin, but it's sturdy in that area without any weakness around the tail piece, which is also strong and sturdy.
One peg has been replaced, as shown in the photos. One peg is slightly deeper. The pegs are sturdy and in good condition. The back and winding portions are solid. The nut is original and in good condition.
The neck is original and sturdy.
The frets are original and have a good sliding feel and are evenly balanced.  The positions markers are original, clear and visible.
The body is original, sturdy and in good condition. As shown n the pictures, one side on the left of the back of the Mandolin,  has a slightly wider separation on one of the wood panels as you look at it straight on. It's unclear is if has slightly opened but the area is solid, you can see the space is wider than the rest of the wood strips in that area, as shown in the pictures. Possibly a maker's mark when being produced, it's unclear, but the ridge it blends into is solid and strong.
The pick guard and tail piece are original and solid.
This is an excellent gift for someone interested in an antique Roman style Mandolin and with new strings, it would be ready to go. The sound resonates with a pure and crisp sound.
