Rare, Collectible 18oo’s Martin Bowl-Back Mandolin - Brazilian Rosewood, Ivory.
I believe they only made 3 of these, custom order. Fantastic inlay. Playable but should be restored and in a museum! It’s the most beautiful mandolin I have ever seen.
Has original case. Serial number is 267 in Nazareth PA. Maybe 1878?
Early serial number and they moved to Nazareth in 1939..
Very small crack on top , not sure if it was repaired - does not move.
Missing a piece of binding. Missing a small piece of ivory on the back.
Neck angle could use adjusting if wanting to play up and down the whole neck.
No structural issues -
