    Description

The Gibson Banjolin Early Model Gibson Banjo Mandolin mfg. 1926 VTG Instrument !
The Gibson Banjolin Early Model Gibson Banjo Mandolin mfg. 1926 VTG Instrument !
Listed is an early model "The Gibson" Gibson Banjolin!
According to our research this item was manufactured in 1926 but please do ask any all questions and view the photos to make your own determination. The Banjo's rim is finished in a dark stain that lets the grain show through and the neck is stained to match. The front of the headstock is black with "The Gibson" written at the top in silver font. Tuner mechanisms are unbranded open backs mounted to steel backing plates and have plastic ivoroid tuning pegs that look original. The fretboard is dark with very small fret wire and dot inlays on the 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th and 15th frets. It has a Grover NonTip bridge piece. Tailpiece, tension hoop and brackets re all metal and look to be original. On the underside you will find a metal dowel, Serial number
    8253-30
and a sticker that reads "The Gibson, Gibson Inc., Kalamazoo.
    Although this Banjolin is
    USED
and coming up on a century old, she's got plenty of picking charm and could still provide enjoyment for years to come. The pot is a little ovular and not quite a perfect circle. The layers have begun to separate and it has some scrapes and scuffs as seen in the photos but it still feels very solid in the hand. The pot assembly's metal hardware has some rust and a few of the tensioning brackets are bent but all of them are present. The neck has some finish wear on the back as well as some scrapes and scuffs but is free of any breaks or cracks and the heel is snugged up to the pot pretty well. Headstock is in a similar state with some minor wear and free of cracks. All tuning mechanisms function although some have rust and the washer is missing from the high E strings tuner post. The frets have some string impressions but look pretty good considering its age. Fretboard itself has some minor cracks from drying out, the 7th fret inlay has a small dent and the cream binding on top of the fretboard does not quite extend all the way to the nut.
All of this being said, this is an awesome little picker that needs a new owner! Please do not hesitate to message us with any questions or concerns you may have regarding this listing!
